Small Groups at Temple
Temple’s Small Groups are the perfect place to meet like-minded members, deepen connections, and share interests and passions.
At Temple, Torah School is more than education. It is a foundation for lifelong Jewish identity and community belonging.
Classes take place on Saturday mornings, creating a meaningful rhythm of learning connected to Shabbat and community life. For Grade 7 students, we also offer a Tuesday evening option, providing flexibility while supporting preparation for B. Mitzvah.
Small Groups are exactly what they sound like… intimate spaces where members with shared interests learn with and from each other.
Participants decide what is discussed and each group includes up to 12 participants. We typically begin with 8 scheduled gatherings and then the group decides what’s next.
Groups currently being formed include families with young children, newlyweds, and more.

Our Small Groups
Mind, Body, and Spirituality
Explore well-being of mind and body
This group provides time and space to explore well-being of both mind and body, and how these connect with spirituality. Conversations are guided by participants and encourage open sharing of ideas, experiences, learning, questions, and support.
Musing on Mussar
Receive guidance on living a meaningful and ethical life
Mussar is a Jewish spiritual practice that offers practical guidance for living a meaningful and ethical life. This group welcomes those who are already familiar with Mussar as well as those eager to deepen their understanding.
Meetings are held monthly and focus on thoughtful dialogue and discussion. Each month explores a different middah (character trait), examining relationships with oneself, others, and the Divine. Materials are drawn from the Mussar Institute and works by Alan Morinis.
This group is limited to 10 participants. Participants should have some familiarity with Mussar through prior study, reading, or a commitment to engage with the materials.
Rosh Chodesh Group
Reflect on Hebrew themes and their connection to everyday life
Our vibrant Rosh Chodesh group meets online once a month on the new moon. Participants of all ages and backgrounds gather to explore the themes of the new Hebrew month and reflect on how they connect to everyday life.
Each member takes a turn leading, researching meaningful teachings about the upcoming month, and guiding discussion. Meeting dates shift each month according to the lunar calendar.
Jewish-Christian Dialogue
Engage in meaningful interfaith conversations
Temple’s Jewish-Christian Dialogue group meets periodically to foster meaningful interfaith conversation and learning.
Upcoming meetings are held in hybrid format, both in the Temple chapel and via Zoom. Sessions are conducted in French and are open to all.
Pride @ Temple
Engage in meaningful interfaith conversations
Grounded in the belief that we are all created b’tzelem Elohim, Pride @ Temple welcomes LGBTQ+ members and allies to gather in community.
Join us every second Tuesday of the month to schmooze, connect, and build meaningful relationships.
Every third month, Pride @ Temple gathers with Ga’ava, Montreal’s LGBTQ+ Jewish advisory committee, creating opportunities to expand community connections and celebrate Jewish life together.
